Rules of Engagement: Part One

This panel will cover the killing and injuring of innocent civilians and unarmed combatants, as well as the destruction of the property, infrastructure and natural resources of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Crisis in Veterans' Healthcare

This panel will look at neglect and abuse of veterans and service members with regards to their mental and physical health. Testimonies will include accounts about the impact of an under-funded Veterans Administration, injured soldiers being forced back into combat without fully recovering from their wounds, cases of the military’s denial of mental healthcare for those suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome and exposure of service members to depleted uranium munitions and other hazardous materials.

Corporate Pillaging and Military Contractors

This panel will examine the government’s use of private contractors to replace soldiers in U.S. military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. Testimonies will include the role of corporations in the management of the occupations, and instances of waste, fraud and abuse involving private corporations. The panel will also examine the implications of U.S. tax dollars supporting private security forces, which are not bound by the rules of engagement.

Divide To Conquer: Gender and Sexuality in the Military

This panel will explore institutional policies of discrimination in the military and its impact on service members both on and off the battlefield. Testimonies will include the real impact of the military’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy; the effect of women’s engagement on the front lines for the first time; and the perpetuation of racism within the military.

Racism and War: the Dehumanization of the Enemy: Part One

This panel will expose torture, abuse, mishandling and mutilation of the dead, and other derogatory treatment of Iraqi and Afghan civilians.

This panel will expose torture, abuse, mishandling and mutilation of the dead, and other derogatory treatment of Iraqi and Afghan civilians.

The Breakdown of the Military

This panel will cover how war policy in Iraq and Afghanistan has led to a weakening of the U.S. military. Testimonies will include the lack of training and equipment for the troops, overuse of military personnel in multiple deployments and the record number of officer resignations.

The Future of GI Resistance

This panel will analyze the spectrum of resistance within the military today and lay out IVAW’s program to build a GI resistance movement.
